For many, Pensacola State College is the first step towards acquiring a higher education. As of Wednesday, they’re getting a six-figure boost from Pen Air Federal Credit Union.

While the $100,000 gift represents a nice, round figure, it has another significance for the school. When the next class graduates in a couple of weeks, the number of graduates will exceed 100,000 since opening in 1948 as Pensacola Junior College.

  Mars and Earth are getting a bit chummier this month, as the Red Planet moves to its closest distance in more than a decade. 

Mars’ position – just under 47 million miles from Earth – is called “opposition” That’s when the sun, Earth and Mars are in a straight line with Mars rising in the east just as the sun sets in the west.   

“Opposition is the same thing as a full moon,” said Pensacola State College astronomer Wayne Wooten. But, because of Earth’s slightly elliptical orbit, Earth is still getting even a little closer to Mars.

The University of West Florida and Pensacola State College have announced an agreement to make getting a bachelor's degree easier on the panhandle.

Dr. Judy Bense, President of the University of West Florida was at Pensacola State College Monday morning to sign a new partnership agreement between to two schools. The program is called PSC -2- UWF...and it makes it much easier for a student to transfer from Pensacola State to the university to complete a bachelor's degree.

About 300 people interested in working at ST Aerospace – either in Mobile or its operation to be built in Pensacola – came out in force on Thursday.

The line at Pensacola State College’s student center extended out to the parking lot when the doors opened at ten o’clock. They were quickly ushered in and through the process of filling out an application and speaking with an ST Representative.

Allen Hall is a retired attorney, professor and Holocaust survivor. He gave presentations at Pensacola State College on Tuesday, November 12 and at the University of West Florida on Wednesday, November 13.
