The Blue
Plate
Special is a
program
dedicated to
the blues,
R&B, and all
that funky
music in
between, its
the most
blues
rocking
program on
the radio.
The program
is heard
every
Saturday
night from
10 to
Midnight on
WUWF 88.1 FM
in Northwest
Florida and
Southwest
Alabama. It
is also
heard around
the world at
wuwf.org.
The program
host and
producer is
Greg Guzman.
The program
began in
February
2000 with
the mission
to present
every side
of
contemporary
and classic
blues music
to hungry
blues
hounds. The
Blue Plate
Special now
places
greater
emphasis on
present days
blues
artists
because they
are the hard
working
musicians
keeping this
music alive
for all of
us. Let's
face it
blues
hounds,
these
musicians
are here
now, so
let's
support them
now.

The
listeners to
this program
are called
"blues
hounds." The
reason for
this is
simple. When
you
pronounce
the
station's
call letters
as a word,
you get
"woof." The
station
revolves
around a
hound motif
and every
format has
its
particular
hound.
I am
searching
for
interesting
artists to
feature on
the program.
You do not
have to be a
strictly
blues or R&B band, but
you must
certainly be
funky,
swinging,
and
original.
