Three,
"Topical
and
Protest
Songs,"
is
the
most
controversial
segment
of
the
series.
Labeled
as a
Communist,
Seeger
lost
his
recording
contracts
and
was
banned
from
radio
and
TV.
He then
took his
music
directly to
the people,
playing at
protest
rallies
against
McCarthyism
and the
Anti-Communist
hysteria
sweeping
America. He
also became
heavily
involved in
the Civil
Rights
Movement and
later became
a key voice
against the
Vietnam War.
