Seagrass & Satsumas: Palafox Market May 2, 2015

Lindsay Myers

This Saturday marked 8 years of farmers' selling direct to consumers at the Palafox Market. The market has transformed from a small, seasonal market to a year-round market with nearly 100 vendors. Spring has been in full bloom in northwest Florida and I don't think you could have had a more beautiful day to enjoy the market. Plus, for regulars, it is exciting to see the new produce starting to be available! As Spring heads towards summer lots of new produce will be available: maybe even tomatoes soon!

First up, peaches! This was the first week for peaches and they were small but tasty.

Strawberries and blueberries are still available: strawberries probably for just a few more weeks until it gets too hot.

The Market offers artisanal products, as well as local food, like these stone ground grits. Other products on offer are milks, cheese, eggs, baked goods, and other prepared foods.

For me this is the best time of year at the market!
