If you decided to run for office would you know where to start? How to build your organization? Who to ask for money and support? Now veteran political operatives are coming to town to train aspiring candidates in the art of campaigning.
Diane Mack, the President of the Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida has announced a campaign workshop sponsored by the institute will be held at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Pensacola on Saturday, April 5. The workshop, made possible by a contribution to the institute by a local benefactor, is geared toward people who might be ready to start their first campaign, as well as some who have been down this road before.
The lead trainer is Robert Arnakis, Senior Director for Domestic and International Programs at The Leadership Institute of Arlington, Virginia, who has experience in national and international campaigns.
The other presenters are Barry Aarons, who was a policy advisor to former Arizona Governor Fife Symington and now senior research fellow with the Texas based Institute for policy Innovation, and Jim Reavis, a businessman with fund raising experience in Arkansas. All three presenters have strong conservative political backgrounds, but Diane Mack says the presentations will focus on training not issues.
Mack is hoping that more women and minorities will take advantage of this opportunity, even if they have no immediate plans to enter public life.
