If you became a fan of pro wrestling in the late 1980s you know the name Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
He joined what was then called the WWF in 1987 and two years later rose to become the federation’s champion. In 2011 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He still has fun interacting with fans.
He finds it reassuring that the WWE is bringing back their classic performers and honoring them. Duggan says it's "opened them up to a whole new generation of kids, and after 35 years in wrestling it's nice to be remembered".
Duggan calls shows like Pensacon "a unique combination" because it brings together comic books and artists with Hollywood people and, yes, even pro wrestlers. He says it's more of a pop culture convention than a comic book convention.
Duggan is still active with the WWE. He'll be appearing at WrestleMania in a few weeks. At events like that the fan really enjoy seeing "our generation of wrestlers...Junk Yard Dog, Jake the Snake, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage...that was kind of the Golden Age of wrestling." Duggan says back then everyone was a character and believes that why they were all so popular "not just in our country but all over the world."
