Governor Scott Talks Hurricanes In Pensacola
A hurricane season information session turned into a campaign appearance Monday morning as Governor Rick Scott and other officials addressed the media at the Escambia County Emergency Management Center.
The governor appeared with members of the state emergency management team and the national guard to talk about hurricane preparedness. Nothing new was said, just reinforcement of the basic message from the Governor: have three days worth of food and water, make a plan, and have an emergency kit available.
The message was reinforced by Bryan Koon, Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management; Major General Emmett Titshaw, Adjutant General of the Florida National Guard; Florida Representative Mike Hill, and Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward.
After the prepared remarks the Governor did take some questions from the press and was asked to explain the lawsuit he announced last week against the Department of Veterans Affairs. He also talked about the budget.
Most speakers reminded people that hurricane supplies can be purchased tax free until this Sunday, June 8.
