Gallery 88 Visage

Visage:
An exhibit of work by UWF BFA candidates using various media to portray the human form. This exhibit has concluded.

Featured student artists are:

Jaime Diffee uses traditional oil painting techniques, creating paintings with modern subject matter. She focuses on the human form and the subtlety of the unsettling. Jaime is currently working on her BFA in Studio Art at University of West Florida. She resides in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Her work has been exhibited across Northwest Florida.

by Libby Guerry

Libby Guerry's drawings are informed by the worldwide cultural innovations of ancient warfare and civilization of the 5th through the 16th century. Her paintings have a taste of the old world, as well. She is motivated to create a new object or experience with a historian implied history, functioning much like an anachronism. To achieve that goal, she often employs medieval techniques in creating her artwork. Libby is a BFA candidate in Drawing and Sculpture in 2015 from the University of West Florida. She resides in Pensacola, FL. Her work has been exhibited in juried and invitational exhibitions across Northwest Florida. She is the recipient of a 2014 Lefferts Mabie Foundation Grant and a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism.

by Jasmine Holmes

Jasmine Holmes creates works that depict current social problems through the use of mixed media. Her paintings depend on the vibrancy of acrylics to catch the onlookers’ attention, while also incorporating watercolor and ink. Jasmine's work subtly expresses cultural and behavioral issues that occur within society, bringing up conversations in an audience that ordinarily are ignored.  Jasmine will receive her BFA in Studio Art in 2016 from the University of West Florida. She currently resides in Pensacola, Florida. Her work has been exhibited in Student shows within University of West Florida campus along with invitational shows within Gulf Breeze, Florida.

by Lexie Reames

Lexie Reames paints figures at varied levels of connection to reality. She is inspired by the human figure’s power to evoke an emotional response from the audience and motivated by her professors and peers to push her skills further.  She uses a method of precision to keep the content realistic, but is currently exploring a looser method of applying the paint. Lexie will receive her BFA in Studio Art in 2016 from the University of West Florida with a concentration in painting. She currently resides in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Her work has been exhibited in Student shows within the University of West Florida and awarded through both feminist and veteran programs.

by Jenea Wood

Jenea Wood creates photographic works that examine everyday objects from a unique perspective.  Her artwork explores the relationship between photography and painting through process, often creating hybrid works that incorporate both media. Jenea’s work redefines the way the everyday is seen, to expose beauty in things that are commonly overlooked.  Jenea will receive her BFA in Digital Art and BA in Graphics Design in 2015 from the University of West Florida.  She maintains residency in Pensacola, FL.  She is currently the on-staff creative at the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County.  Her work has been exhibited in juried and invitational exhibitions in Pensacola, FL.  She is the recipient of a 2014 Lefferts Mabie Foundation Grant and a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

by Kenneth Jordan

Kenneth Jordan is a figurative oil-painter, his interest lies in process, and the relationship between drawing and painting is essential. His drawing skills are well established and vibrant, creating within the work a certain tension and tri-dimensionality. This particular relationship is fundamental to the development of his compositions. The process in which his paintings develop is comprised of diverse techniques. The manipulation of brush strokes, glazes, and subtractive methods create a tension between the figures and the setting. Kenneth will receive his BFA in Studio Art from the University of West Florida in 2015. He currently resides in Pensacola, Florida.
