"Katya Ivanov joined WUWF as a student intern in May 2012 and then worked as the local All Things Considered host from August 2012 until July 2013. She graduated with a BA in Film/Telecommunications from the University of West Florida in December 2012. She now works as a full-time reporter and announcer fort WUWF.

Katya also serves as staff advisor for Argo Studios, the UWF film production club she founded as a student. In her spare time, she likes to write, work on art projects and make short films."

2013 In Review: Sea Turtle Nesting On Pensacola Beach

In August 2013, Pensacola Beach had twenty sea turtle nests on its beach this season, its highest recorded number. It hosted 19 nests twice, in 1997 and in 2012. The Park has 40 turtle nests this year, which Nicholas says is a little above-average. Turtles continue to nest, so these numbers may increase. Mark Nicholas is District Biologist at Gulf Islands National Seashore.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy is a national non-profit organization based in Rochester, NY. The Greater Pensacola Chamber brought the program to Pensacola to teach area students how to start their own businesses. Classes are hosted by the college of business at the University of West Florida. Kelly Reeser is Director of Entrepreneurial Development for the Pensacola Chamber and local program manager for Greater Pensacola YEA.
