Katya Ivanov

Mid-Day Host/Reporter

"Katya Ivanov joined WUWF as a student intern in May 2012 and then worked as the local All Things Considered host from August 2012 until July 2013. She graduated with a BA in Film/Telecommunications from the University of West Florida in December 2012. She now works as a full-time reporter and announcer fort WUWF.

Katya also serves as staff advisor for Argo Studios, the UWF film production club she founded as a student. In her spare time, she likes to write, work on art projects and make short films."

The Artisan: A Look At The Past And Future Of 400 S. Palafox St.

400 S. Palafox Street, now known as the Artisan building, sits on the corner of Palafox and Main Street in Downtown Pensacola. Although it is bordered by streets, it was once waterfront property. Jacquelyn Wilson is archivist for the University of West Florida Historic Trust. Ballast left by ships importing goods from Pensacola was deposited to create man-made land for further construction.

STEM-Inspired Art On Display at TAG UWF

The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida is hosting STEAM National Art and Technology Exhibition. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The show features science and mathematics-inspired work from artists from across the United States. Thomas Asmuth is an art instructor at UWF. He was part of the team that planned the exhibit.

Local Parents Advocate Medical Marijuana

A new non-profit organization is rallying support for legislation allowing the use of a specific type of medical marijuana. Caring 4 Florida was founded in January this year by Peyton and Holley Moseley. The not-for-profit organization is intended educate and advocate for the legalization of non-euphoric strains of cannabis for use by epilepsy patients. The Moseley’s eleven year old daughter, RayAnn, has intractable epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

Brandon returns to his hometown in an attempt to relive his youth, while Sara takes a more introspective approach. Steven McMillan directed and wrote the film.

Everyone has seen a paper printer. But not everyone has seen, or even heard of, a 3D printer.  This technology takes a set of plans and builds a 3D object out of plastic before your eyes. Here, the Makerbot Replicator II is printing a pair of handball goggles.
