state of

began 2009
with its
first ever
“Celebrate
Literacy
Week,
Florida!”
The aim is
to promote
the
enjoyment of
reading for
children and
adults of
all ages and
raise
awareness of
the programs
and projects
offered by
the
Department
of Education
and its
partners.
Locally,
there are
organizations
such as
“Every Child
a Reader in
Escambia”--or
E-CARE--
and
Learn
to
Read
of
Northwest
Florida,
which
targets
adult
literacy.

his
organization
and
the
extent
of
the
problem
they’re
working
to
