Magic Johnson Speaks to Pensacola

Update: 

NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson spoke to several thousand people Monday afternoon at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium at Community Maritime Park.  Those attending the free event included children, community and business leaders.

Johnson began his address by applauding Art Rocker and the work of his advocacy organization "Operation People for Peace" in addressing the needs of underserved and underrepresented communities and urging individuals to join in the effort.

Pensacola and Escambia Mull ST Aerospace Funding

The Escambia County Commission and City of Pensacola are now on the same page of the hymnal, in funding the attempt to bring an aircraft maintenance company to Pensacola International Airport.

“Project Stallion” was the code name for the talks with ST Aerospace, which operates a facility in Mobile that employs about 1,500 people. Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward announced in December that he had signed a Memorandum of Understanding – or MOU -- with ST Aerospace, capping two years of negotiations.

Highway 90 Site Chosen For New Santa Rosa Courthouse

Santa Rosa County Commissioners are now looking ahead and what’s next, following their selection Thursday of a site on U.S. Highway 90 for a new $35 million courthouse.

The board started out with six potential sites, but in recent weeks had cut the list down to two choices; the parcel on U.S. Highway 90 owned by Coldwell Banker and the JDL of Santa Rosa property on Avalon Boulevard.

What does a heart attack look like? I suspect that if you had to put a face on a heart attack it would look like a stressed out, chain smoking, hard drinking Mad Men type. But while those people exist and they certainly are at risk for heart disease...more and more the face is becoming female. A great deal of attention is brought to women's risk of breast cancer but the fact is that heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the US.

Deep Freeze Cuts Into Employment And Retail Sales
