A special 1-hour version of the program featuring the best holiday performances from popular progressive and contemporary folk artists. John Macdonell hosts.

1:00 p.m. Ornaments and Icing 2006
WKSU and FolkAlley present the return of the national award-winning program with all new recordings of holiday music and stories. This year’s artists include Nanci Griffith, Roger McGuinn, Peter Yarrow, Chad and Jeremy, and The Wailin’ Jennys. The artists their take on classic carols as well as original songs. Personal stories and a take-a-turn reading of The Night Before Christmas round out this amazing musical special, hosted by Jim Blum.

2:00 p.m. Blind Boys of Alabama Christmas Show
Clarence Fountain and his legendary gospel group have won four Grammy Awards in the last four years. We join them on stage as they present their own take on the Christmas classics "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World," along with some gospel favorites including "I'm a Soldier in the Army of the Lord."

3:00 p.m. Christmas from the World Café
A very special stage show featuring new takes on holiday classics as well as new contributions to the holiday tradition. This program features roots, blues, Americana, and other contemporary music. Artists providing the special cheer include Raul Midon, Jonatha Brooke, and the Old Crow Medicine Show. David Dye hosts from the World Café studios in Philadelphia.

9:00 a.m. Christmas and Holiday Music
Join WUWF and NPR for music to unwrap presents and hang mistletoe by, featuring encore performances of holiday program favorites.

Friday - December 29th
6:00 p.m. Capitol Steps' Year in Review
Those Washington Wackies offer up an hour of satire and song to commemorate all the news that was in 2006 with a sneak peek ahead to 2007.
