The University of West Florida Department of Music presents the UWF Singers in “Arise!”. The performance will take place on Tuesday, Apr. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 East Moreno Street in downtown Pensacola. Under the direction of Dr. Peter Steenblik the choral ensembles will present a program of dynamic highs and lows with texts by Anne Frank, Hafiz, Rumi and John Lennon. The moving words will be set to the music of such greats as Rachmaninoff, Betinis and Morley. The centerpiece of the program is Tarik O’Regan’s “Triptych”, a meditation on death inspired by Rumi’s words: “So, why then should I be afraid? I shall die once again to rise an angel blest”. Special guests will include the Pensacola West Percussion Ensemble, Pensacola Children’s Chorus, Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy and faculty and students of the UWF Department of Theatre. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for this event. For more information, please contact the CFPA Box Office at 850.857.6285.
